Old Town® Hatches the New Loon™ Series at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Show
OLD TOWN, MAINE (August 4, 2015)
To celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the original Loon kayak’s debut, Old Town has completely re-engineered the popular watercraft for 2015 and beyond. They will unveil the new Loon Series at Summer OR.
An exciting feature that’s exclusive to the Loon Series is the innovative, removable workdeck that’s positioned at arm’s reach in front of the paddler. In addition to accessory trays and a bottle holder, the workdeck has a large dry-storage compartment with a latched lid for secure gear management. It also feature a USB port to keep phones, action cameras, hand-held GPS units and other electronics fully charged. An integrated Slide Track mount makes accessory attachment easy, and paddlers will appreciate the handy cell phone shelf with bungee. If extra room is required in the cockpit for a small passenger or pet, the workdeck detaches quickly and easily.
Old Town appointed the Loon’s “command center” with their Active Comfort System 2.0 (ACS2) seat that combines aesthetics, ergonomic comfort and performance. ACS2 features easy and intuitive adjustments, under-leg support, premium padding and flow-through ventilation, making it the most advanced kayak seating system on the market.
Each Loon kayak is engineered with extra width and volume in the 3-layer, sit-inside hull for optimum stability, comfort and paddling ease. For recreational paddling, Old Town developed three Loon models: the 106 (10’6”), the 120 (12’) and the 126 (12’6”). Those who fish will prefer the design features of the new Loon Angler 106 (10’6”) and 126 (12’6”). All models have generous equipment storage solutions. Bow and stern deck bungees securely hold bulky items, and the rear click seal hatch with bulkhead keeps essential items dry and safe.
Specific to the Loon Angler models are two integrated, flush-mount rod holders located just behind the cockpit. They’re perfectly positioned for trolling applications or to quickly grab a rod and cast. For holding on a spot, anglers will appreciate the anchor trolley and anchor system (included).
According to Old Town’s Marketing Communications Manager Luke LaBree, “The new Loons are the most comfortable, advanced and efficient sit-inside kayaks ever made. Loons are easy to paddle, designed for performance and have more exclusive features than any other kayak on the market.”
The Loon 106, 120 and 126 are available in five popular colors (Lemongrass, Black, Cherry, Sunrise and Cloud). The Loon Angler models come in Urban Camo and regular Camouflage (for bonus hunting applications).
